It has been rated as the wealthiest city in the United States by CNN Money, and the United States Census Bureau declared Plano the wealthiest city of 2008 by comparing the median household income for all U.S. cities whose populations were greater than 250,000. The annual Plano Balloon Festival and the Plano International Festival are two of the city’s premiere cultural and entertainment events.
Parks and Recreation:
There are over 3800 acres of parks managed by the city of Plano with a little over 4000 acres to be managed in the coming years. Arbor Hills Nature Preserve, Bob Woodruff Park, and Oak Point Park and Nature Preserve are the highlight of Plano’s parks.
Within the city of Plano there are several golf courses to choose from like Los Rios and Chase Oaks. For the more serious enthusiast there is Prestonwood Country Club and Gleneagles Country Club. There are over 50 miles of walking, jogging and biking trails in Plano. There are five recreation centers. They are Tom Muehlenbeck Center, Carpenter Park Recreation Center, Oak Point Recreation Center, Liberty Recreation Center, and Douglass Community Center all managed by the City of Plano Parks and Recreation.
